
Laughter Yoga is recognised as a contributor towards health, providing balance, wellness, and community.
Laughter Yoga started 17 years ago in India when Medical Doctor Madan Kataria acted upon the idea of gathering groups of individuals to develop a practice for stimulating the natural responses that occur during bouts of laughter.
Laughter Clubs are available in more than 60 countries with representation in many of the major towns and cities of the world. These clubs are forming communities where people meet to socialise and practice Laughter Yoga.
Here in Guelph, currently; we are a small group of individuals, meeting weekly in each others homes.
A laughter yoga session is facilitated by an anchor person who leads the group in a series of light-hearted and playful stretching and breathing exercises, encouraging a group synergy that builds positive energy. The flow of the session begins by loosening up with simple laughter exercises and following through into a relaxation mode - refreshing, rejuvenating and relaxing.
